EKO Cyprus ‘Adopts’ Athlete Natalia Evangelidou on the ‘Road to Tokyo 2020’

In the context of the Cyprus National Olympic Committee’s (NOC) ‘Adopt an athlete on the way to Tokyo 2020’ sponsorship programme, EKO Cyprus has ‘adopted’ 28-year-old middle-distance runner (800m and 1,500m) Natalia Evangelidou who recently took gold in the women’s 1,500m at the Balkan Championships in Pravets, Bulgaria.

The sponsorship was made official at the premises of EKO Cyprus in the presence of EKO Cyprus Managing Director Mr George Gregoras, former athlete and NOC Officer Ms Andri Shialou and athlete Ms Natalia Evangelidou.

“As we fully understand the difficulties faced by Cypriot athletes during their demanding preparation, we decided to actively support their efforts through this programme by the NOC,” stated Mr Gregoras during the signing ceremony. “Besides, Cypriot athletes’ successes set the best example for the new generation, as well as being the best advertisement for our country. I wish Natalia the very best and announce that EKO Cyprus will be by her side on the road to Tokyo!”

EKO Cyprus intends to continue to support activities that promote the principles and values of the excellence and fair play embodied so well by sports.
