10th Course of Motorcycle Rider Training Seminars
by EKO Cyprus
Aiming to raise awareness about proper and safe driving practices, as well as strict adherence to the traffic code, EKO Cyprus is once again organizing motorcycle rider training seminars through the "EKO Safe Rider".
To mark the 10th anniversary of this important initiative, a Press Conference was held on April 28, 2025, at the Traffic Education Park in Aglantzia.
The event was honored by the presence of the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis, and the representative of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, Mr. Petrides.
The Chief of the Cyprus Police was represented by the Director of the Traffic Department, Mr. Haris Evripidou, while members of the Cyprus Motorcycle Federation (CMF) were also present.
Among the guests was well-known Cypriot actor and motorcyclist Mr. Tony Dimitriou, who stars in EKO Cyprus’ new awareness campaign.
Under the message "Enjoy Your Passion Safely," the new campaign commercials were unveiled for the first time. These ads place particular emphasis on the prevention of road accidents and the promotion of responsible driving behavior. At the same time, they mark the beginning of an extensive communication campaign that will run throughout May, aiming to raise awareness.
Road safety is today a critical social challenge, with motorcyclists belonging to the most vulnerable groups. In this context, EKO Cyprus consistently and responsibly continues, for the tenth consecutive year its actions to support safe driving. The "EKO Safe Rider" training seminars aim to enhance road safety, offer in-depth education on technical aspects, and contribute to the significant reduction of traffic accidents, which are a persistent societal problem.
The seminars are organized in collaboration with City’s A.R.T., under the auspices of the Cyprus Motorcycle Federation (CMF), and are based on the methodology of the Greek branch of the California Superbike School. The City’s A.R.T. certified and highly experienced instructors train participants on technical skills, safety principles, and proper riding behavior. The program places special emphasis on identifying and correcting common handling errors, thus enhancing motorcyclists’ active safety.
"The right training and responsible observance of the traffic code are acts of respect for life, both our own and that of those around us," stated the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis.
"EKO Cyprus launched the EKO Safe Rider initiative aiming to reduce road collisions, and we strongly recommend that everyone registers for the upcoming training seminars, as well as future ones," emphasized the Director of the Traffic Department, Mr. Haris Evripidou.
"As you all know, EKO Cyprus has always invested in road safety because it is an integral part of its corporate culture," said the CEO of EKO Cyprus, Mr. George Grigoras, adding: "Knowledge makes us stronger and safer. That’s why EKO Cyprus focuses its attention on the ongoing education and training of our motorcyclists, in terms of driving behavior, protective measures, and overall theoretical, technical, and practical preparation. We are fully aware of the risks motorcyclists face and the dangers they encounter every time they travel, no matter the distance. We often say, 'It’s a matter of education,' and it truly is. It is a matter of education, driving culture, and an active affirmation of life. We all have a duty to put into practice whatever can ultimately safeguard our lives. In the end, it’s a matter of life itself."
It is noteworthy that, according to a recent evaluation survey, 65% of participants reported being highly satisfied with the organization, content, and clarity of the "EKO Safe Rider" seminars. Even more importantly, 84% said that the seminars helped them realize the importance of safe driving, while one in five participants stated that the knowledge gained could have helped them avoid a previous accident, they had been involved in. These figures confirm that proper training saves lives.
The seminars will be held at Achna Speedway, in Dasaki Achna, on the following dates and times:
17/05/2025 | 09:00-13:00 and 14:00-18:00
18/05/2025 | 09:00-13:00
24/05/2025 | 09:00-13:00 and 14:00-18:00
25/05/2025 | 09:00-13:00
