EKO: “Bringing Colour to Hope” in Support of Children with Cancer
EKO: “Bringing Colour to Hope” in Support of Children with Cancer
Nationwide campaign in Cyprus supporting the “Elpida” Foundation
Running until June 7, 2026 across EKO’s service station network
Hundreds of children have benefited over the past decade
EKO is implementing, for the 11th consecutive year, its social contribution campaign “Bringing Colour to Hope”, supporting the work of the “Elpida” Foundation and children who are bravely battling cancer and leukaemia.
The campaign was presented at a press conference held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the premises of the “Elpida” Foundation, in the presence of the Minister of Health, Mr. Neophytos Charalambides, the President of the “Elpida” Foundation, Dr. Loizos Loizou, as well as members of the Foundation’s scientific team.
The “Bringing Colour to Hope” campaign will run until the first week of June, activating EKO’s entire network of service stations across Cyprus. Through everyday customer service, each fuel purchase is transformed into an act of giving, as 1 cent per litre of fuel is donated to support the Foundation. The total amount expected to be raised this year is estimated to exceed €45,000.
The proceeds will be used to fund the Foundation’s actions and services for children with cancer and leukaemia in Cyprus. These include strengthening care and support services, training medical and nursing staff, providing financial assistance to families, and offering scholarships to children who have overcome the disease and are pursuing their studies.
It is worth noting that over the past 11 years, the campaign has supported more than 500 children and their families, highlighting its long-standing value and meaningful social impact.
At the same time, within the framework of its collaboration with EKO, the “Elpida” Foundation is developing new specialised therapeutic recreation programmes. These include structured interventions such as experiential art and music workshops, activities aimed at strengthening family relationships, and support groups for parents and children, with the goal of enhancing emotional resilience and supporting families during challenging times.
EKO actively supports the implementation of these programmes by covering all related costs, contributing to the creation of positive experiences and providing relief for children and their families during a particularly demanding period in their lives.
In his address, the Minister of Health, Mr. Neophytos Charalambides, stated: “EKO’s meaningful contribution to the ‘Elpida’ Foundation is widely recognised. This collaboration strengthens, through impactful Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, the support provided to children battling cancer and leukaemia. The ‘Elpida’ Foundation, with more than thirty years of service in Cyprus, covers most areas of care and support for children in need. At the same time, it offers hope and perspective both in Cyprus and in countries with limited resources, promoting equal access to healthcare and safeguarding the dignity of every child…”
In his statement, EKO’s CEO, Mr. Giorgos Grigoras, underlined: “Our collaboration with the ‘Elpida’ Foundation is a long-standing commitment for us. Through the ‘Bringing Colour to Hope’ campaign, we aim to make a meaningful contribution to supporting children and their families, demonstrating that solidarity can be expressed through simple, everyday actions. The public’s response over the years gives us the strength to continue with consistency and responsibility.”
The President of the “Elpida” Foundation, Dr. Loizos Loizou, added: “Psychological support is a key pillar in addressing childhood cancer. Through therapeutic recreation, the emotional resilience of children and their families is significantly strengthened. With EKO’s support, we are implementing a new programme in Cyprus aimed at providing comprehensive psychosocial support to children fighting cancer and leukaemia.”
EKO invites the public to actively participate in the “Bringing Colour to Hope” campaign, supporting a collective effort that has now become an established institution and highlights the power of social contribution.
