EKO Cyprus: Gold Sponsor of the National Basketball Teams and Event Sponsor of the “FIBA EuroBasket

EKO Cyprus: Gold Sponsor of the National Basketball Teams and Event Sponsor of the “FIBA EuroBasket 2025” Men’s Tournament

Under the auspices of the HELLENiQ ENERGY Group

With a steadfast vision to support sports and a constant contribution to initiatives with high social and national impact, EKO Cyprus, a subsidiary of the HELLENiQ ENERGY Group, proudly announces its partnership as the Gold Sponsor of Cyprus' National Basketball Teams, as well as its support as Event Sponsor of the premier tournament to be held in the country, the “FIBA EuroBasket 2025” Men’s Tournament.

The dual framework of the Company’s sports strategy, focusing both on strengthening national representation and supporting international events with long-term value for the country, was presented during a special event held on May 28 at the Royal Hall, that was initiated and co-organized by EKO Cyprus, HELLENiQ ENERGY, and the Cyprus Basketball Federation. The ceremony was honored by the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, along with government representatives, the business community, and the world of sports.

As part of the event, the official unveiling of the new Men’s National Team jersey took place, a symbol of collective identity and national pride, uniting athletes and fans under the same banner.

The Company’s sponsorship covers all National Basketball Teams — U16 and U18 Men’s and Women’s — reaffirming its long-standing commitment to the field of sports and enhancing Cyprus’ presence on the international stage. This represents a meaningful investment in the present and future of Cypriot sports.

The hosting of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 at the upgraded “Spyros Kyprianou” Arena in Limassol, from August 28 to September 4, 2025, is expected to bring multiple benefits to the country, as it strengthens Cyprus’ international image, attracts sports tourism, and leaves behind improved infrastructure, a legacy for society and the sporting world.

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, emphasized the significance of the event as an opportunity to strengthen Cyprus' international presence, as well as a motive for social and developmental progress:
“The investment we are making as a state — the decision we have taken to support the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 event financially — is primarily because we view it as an investment for the younger generation of our country. It is an investment that enhances our country’s image abroad on the one hand and on the other, creates new prospects for sports, encourages young people to actively engage in athletics, helps youth stay away from the enormous challenges they face today, and strengthens our athletic identity on an international level. At the same time, the anticipated arrival of tens of thousands of visitors to Limassol and to our country broadly speaking, is a major contributing factor to the local community, businesses, and tourism activity.”

The CEO of HELLENiQ ENERGY Group, Mr. Andreas Shiamishis, spoke about the Group’s and subsidiaries’ strategic role in the field of sports, as well as their commitment to supporting initiatives with meaningful social impact:
“Through EKO Cyprus, we will proudly support the efforts of all our athletes — men and women — to excel in major international competitions. This is a meaningful investment in the present and future of Cypriot sports. The EKO logo on the National Teams’ jerseys signals our strong commitment to supporting sports, Cypriot basketball, and every effort to promote the country abroad. As a company, we will continue to support and reinforce this endeavor to elevate Cyprus on the global stage. In this context, we will also be the Event Sponsor of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Men’s Championship, the largest sporting event ever hosted by the country,” Mr. Shiamishis stated.

The President of the Cyprus Basketball Federation, Mr. Andreas Mouzourides, spoke about the upgrade of the “Spyros Kyprianou” arena, as well as the importance of the new partnership with EKO Cyprus and the HELLENiQ ENERGY Group for the national teams:
“The upgrade of the ‘Spyros Kyprianou’ arena is a landmark development that opens a new chapter for sports in Cyprus. It is being realized thanks to the support of the State and the President of the Republic himself, as well as the Ministry of Transport and Minister Alexis Vafeadis. Its new form not only meets the needs of EuroBasket 2025 but also stands as a valuable legacy for the future of Cypriot sports. At the same time, our partnership with EKO Cyprus and the HELLENiQ ENERGY Group is of great significance, as it provides support at all levels — from the National Teams and their daily training to the implementation of the most historic tournament we have ever undertaken. We sincerely thank them for sharing this vision with us.”

Mark Clerides, President of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Organizing Committee, stated:
“The efforts of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Organizing Committee would not be possible without the support of a strong network of corporate sponsors, a group that now includes our newest teammate: one of the most powerful energy groups in Southeastern Europe, HELLENiQ ENERGY, and its subsidiary, EKO Cyprus. With a strong sense of corporate social responsibility, they are investing in and supporting this event not only financially. Their contribution makes us truly grateful, and we rightly regard them as benefactors of European basketball”.

The CEO of EKO Cyprus, Mr. Giorgos Grigoras, emphasized the company’s role as Event Sponsor of EuroBasket 2025 and Gold Sponsor of the National Basketball Teams, as well as EKO’s ongoing support for international sports events such as the EKO International Athletic Meeting:
“Our participation as Gold Sponsor of the National Teams and Event Sponsor of EuroBasket 2025 is, for EKO Cyprus, an honor, a responsibility, and a continuation of our long-standing commitment to supporting sports and our country on an international level.”

With a strong belief in the values of fair play, EKO Cyprus consistently invests in strategic partnerships that strengthen Cyprus' position on the international sports map and contribute meaningfully to broader social progress.
