Covering the heating needs of 17 institutions as well as Makarios Hospital
The initiative’s main focus is to support children, the elderly, and people with disabilities
Over 4,500 people have benefited from the initiative in the last four years
For the fourth consecutive year, EKO is implementing its corporate social responsibility initiative, ‘Warm Hug’, providing heating oil to 17 institutions across Cyprus, including those located in areas affected by the recent devastating wildfires.
The initiative, part of EKO’s broader corporate responsibility strategy, a subsidiary of HELLENiQ ENERGY, aims to support children, the elderly, and people with disabilities by covering their heating needs free of charge during the winter months.
Once again, the initiative also includes Archbishop Makarios III Hospital, the country’s only specialized state facility for pediatric and maternity care. Beneficiaries also include charitable institutions operating in mountainous and semi-mountainous communities, where heating requirements are particularly high.
To date, EKO’s total contribution has exceeded 600,000 liters of heating oil, directly improving the living conditions of at least 4,500 individuals belonging to vulnerable groups.
EKO CEO, Mr. Giorgos Grigoras, stated: ‘Our initiative‘Warm Hug’ has now become an established tradition for us, a reliable channel of giving and solidarity to society. This year, the initiative takes on even greater significance as it extends to areas affected by last summer’s wildfires. We stand by those who need us, continuing to provide meaningful support with the goal of a warm winter and dignified living conditions for all’
EKO remains committed to sustaining and expanding the ‘Warm Hug’ initiative in the years ahead, reaffirming its social responsibility and dedication through tangible actions that continue to address the needs of communities across Cyprus.
