EKO Invests in Road Safety Through an Experiential Training Programme for Young Drivers

As part of its commitment to improving road safety and promoting responsible driving behaviour, EKO supports an innovative experiential training programme designed for young car drivers serving their military service in the Cyprus National Guard.

The programme is based on modern training methodologies that enable participants to gain a practical understanding of the risks they face daily on the road. Through an immersive learning experience that combines observation, reflection, action and application, participants are encouraged to develop safer driving habits and a stronger awareness of road safety.

Young motorists and motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable groups of road users, particularly during the first months after obtaining their driving licence. Through specially designed exercises conducted in a controlled environment, participants are challenged to manage realistic driving scenarios and experience first-hand how attention, reaction time and vehicle control are affected under different conditions.

The experiential training programme includes, among other activities, distracted driving exercises, comparative speed and reaction-time scenarios, as well as simulations demonstrating the effects of fatigue, alcohol consumption and drug use on driving performance and decision-making.

The programme was successfully delivered on 3 and 4 June 2026 in collaboration with the Traffic Department of the Cyprus Police. The training experience concluded with a guided discussion and reflection session, reinforcing participants’ understanding of road risks while encouraging personal responsibility and conscious decision-making behind the wheel.

Through this initiative, EKO reaffirms its long-standing commitment to promoting road safety through actions that contribute to public awareness, education and the protection of citizens. In this direction, the Company continues to invest in initiatives that strengthen prevention, foster a stronger culture of responsible driving and contribute to creating safer roads for everyone.
