The extraordinary capabilities of the single-seater Formula car, which took part in the “Formula Student” World Championship in Italy, winning the highly honored 39th place amongst 60 entries, were presented by Frederick University students, who created the vehicle, at a special event honoring EKO and the other sponsors of this pioneering venture.
Τhe event was held on Friday, October 20 at the Daytona Karting Centre in the presence of Mr. Andreas Stratis, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager of Hellenic Petroleum Cyprus, and Ms Marina Tziakouri, Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator, while the Rector of the Frederick University, Dr Giorgos Demosthenous, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Dr Antonios Lontos addressed congratulatory speeches to the students.
During the event, the single-seater racing car was displayed at the raceway, while the award winning students and the Responsible Professor spoke to the people who attended the event about their experience of participating in a worldwide Project, which helped them gain knowledge and broaden their scientific horizons.
The "FUF Racing Team" of Frederick University is the first Cypriot team to take part in the "Formula Student" World Championship, after two years of hard work and research in this new field, as there was no previous knowledge or expertise in our country. The team obtained the best result ever won by a new entrant in this international competition.
