The Heart of Athletics Beat Strong Once Again at the EKO Cyprus International Athletics Meeting
Spectators were once again treated to world-class athletic performances and new meeting records at the EKO Cyprus International Athletics Meeting, organized by the Cyprus Amateur Athletic Association (KOEAS) with the support of EKO as the Event’s Title Sponsor, at the packed Tsirio Athletic Centre in Limassol.
The flawless organizing of the event, combined with outstanding performances by world-class athletes, confirmed once again that the EKO Cyprus International Athletics Meeting is one of the most important athletics events in Cyprus. At the same time, the enthusiastic presence of more than 3,500 spectators of all ages, who filled the stands of the Tsirio Stadium and created a vibrant atmosphere throughout the competition, highlighted the growing interest in athletics across the country.
On the sporting front, two of Greece’s and the world’s leading athletes, Miltiadis Tentoglou and Emmanouil Karalis, attracted significant attention and added further prestige to the event. The two Olympic medalists rewarded fans with remarkable performances and new meeting records. Tentoglou recorded an impressive jump of 8.49 metres, setting a new meeting record, while Karalis cleared 6.00 metres for the twentieth time in his career, further demonstrating his exceptional form.
At the same time, Cypriot athletes Milan Trajkovic, Elena Kulichenko and Iosif Kesidis, alongside distinguished competitors from Cyprus and abroad, delivered high-level performances and memorable moments throughout the meeting.
Notably, this year’s event, which marked its fifth consecutive edition, produced a total of eight (8) new meeting records, rewarding spectators with world-class competition that showcased the true values of athletic excellence and sportsmanship.
The live broadcast of the event by CyBC in Cyprus and ERT in Greece played a significant role in further promoting both the meeting and Cypriot athletics to a wider audience.
As part of the event, EKO’s Commercial Director, Mr. Nikos Sardellis, presented the medals to the winners of the Men’s 200m race. In addition, EKO Marketing Manager, Ms. Marina Tziakouri, presented the awards to the top athletes in the pole vault competition, where Olympic medalist Emmanouil Karalis once again delivered an outstanding performance.
EKO warmly congratulates KOEAS for the excellent organization of the EKO Cyprus International Athletics Meeting, as well as all athletes, volunteers and contributors whose dedication helped make this major celebration of athletics another great success.
