A “warm embrace” from EKO Cyprus

EKO Cyprus is giving a warm embrace to fifteen beneficial foundations and Makarios Hospital by donating to them more than 300,000 litres of heating fuel. This warm gesture for this Christmas, but also for the upcoming winter months, shows once again, that EKO Cyprus is by the side of Cypriot communities.

In cooperation with relevant agencies, EKO Cyprus has already started to provide free heating fuel to homes for the elderly and people with special needs, social care centres, nurseries and youth centres that are situated in the mountainous areas of our island. This particular activation covers the heating needs for the winter period that surpasses 300,000 litres and includes the communities of the National Strategic Development of Mountain Communities Troodos (ESAOK), as well as other communities that are situated at an altitude of more than 600 metres and have beneficial foundations and institutions. Specifically, the communities of Agros, Evrychou, Kalopanayiotis, Kapedes, Kyperounta, Palaichori, Pano Kivides, Pano Lefkara, Pelendri, Salamiou, Temvria and Foini as well as Makarios Hospital, which is the only hospital in Cyprus which specialises in Paediatrics.

Mr. George Gregoras, CEO of EKO Cyprus, announced the implementation of this important initiative in the context of the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, on Tuesday December 6th, during a press conference that took place at the A.G. Leventis Gallery in Nicosia. Along with key EKO Cyprus stakeholders, the Minister of Health, the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, the former Commissioner for Development of Mountainous Areas, the Director of Makarios Hospital, Leaders of the respective communities, presidents of the beneficial foundations and institutions and representatives of the media were all present at the press conference to watch the energy presentation and thereafter all were given a collection of Cypriot treats produced locally in some of activation’s benefiting villages.

After thanking the former Commissioner for Development of Mountainous Areas, Mr. Costas Champiaouris, for his important contribution, as well as all those who helped in the implementation of this activation, Mr. George Gregoras, EKO Cyprus CEO, made this statement, “love and giving to people is a timeless value for EKO Cyprus. Thus, through this specific Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, we show our support towards charitable and beneficial foundations of the mountainous areas and their guests as well as to Makarios Hospital and its patients, so that their respective stays can be as warm as possible”.
