Cyprus wins the EuroBasket 2025 bid

With the active participation of EKO, a leading company in the field of motor fuels and Grand Sponsor of the tournament, the Cypriot phase of EuroBasket 2025, the largest sporting event ever hosted in Cyprus, was completed with absolute success. This highlighted the strength and potential of Cypriot basketball on a European level.
Throughout the tournament, EKO made its strong presence felt both on and off the court, with creative contests and public activations that showcased, in practice, its ongoing support for sports and the National Teams. At the Spyros Kyprianou Arena in Limassol, the company and its executives were actively present, hosting partners, clients, and friends at the specially designed EKO VIP Lounge, in a warm and festive atmosphere.
In a particularly emotional evening, Cyprus and Greece met on the same court on August 30th for a game rich in symbolism. Attending the EKO Lounge, to honor EKO’s effort and presence, were government officials, Mr. Andreas Siamisis, CEO of HELLENiQ ENERGY, company executives, Mr. Vaggelis Liolios, President of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK), and Mr. Andreas Mouzouridis, President of the Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF).
The presence of legendary European basketball player Panagiotis Giannakis, who attended the games and met with young athletes, added a special touch to the occasion.
With a steadfast commitment to promoting sports, EKO actively supports the National Basketball Teams of Cyprus and Greece across all age categories, Men, Women, U16, and U18. The participation of Cyprus National Team in this major event deeply moved and filled the nation with pride, as the athletes gave their very best before the home crowd.
At EKO, we feel particularly proud that the group phase in Cyprus served as the ideal starting point for Greece’s National Team, which continued with determination and passion, reaching the top four teams in Europe.
